Doch theologisch im engeren Sinn ist das Ganze nicht. Nicht nur, weil die Pinguine den göttlichen Rettungsplan (»Führe je zwei in die Arche«) mit irdischer Solidarität unterlaufen, sondern weil die Gespräche vom Staunen und Fragen leben, also eher Kinderphilosophie spiegeln. Die scheinbar unbeschwerte Abfolge von Ansichten und Meinungen führt letztlich zur Einsicht, dass Glauben dort anfängt, wo Wissen aufhört. Man kann diese Essenz herauslesen, man kann aber auch einfach lesen und lachen - lachen über die Komik der Dialoge, deren Absurdität wahrer ist als manche Sinn-fixierte Interpretation. Ihr braucht dafür: 10 Eprouvetten, 2 Thermometer, warmes Wasser, Eprouvettenständer. Durchführung: Jedes Reagenzglas soll einen Pinguin darstellen. Füllt jedes Reagenzglas mit warmem Wasser (40-50 °C). Stellt ein Reagenzglas allein in einen Eprouvettenständer. Bindet nun die restlichen neun Eprouvetten mit einem Gummiband zusammen. Messt nun im Abstand von 5 Minuten die Wassertemperatur in dem einzelnen Reagenzglas und in den zusammengebundenen Reagenzgläsern und zwar - in einem aus der Mitte und - in einem radständigem. Zu unterschiedlichen Tageszeiten tippte er schlafenden Pinguinen einmal in der Minute auf die Schulter. Am Morgen erwachten die Tiere nach fünf Minuten, am Nachmittag dagegen tippte Dewasmes seinen Pinguinen etwa neunmal auf die Schulter, bis diese aufwachten.

It is perfectly normal for gentoos and macaronis to rest or sleep on their bellies. They also sleep while standing, sometimes with their beak tucked under their wing which helps regulate heat loss. Another interesting way I have seen them sleep is when they roll onto the back part of their foot bringing their toes off the ground. This helps regulate heat loss by keeping their toes off an icy or cold surface. Late in the afternoon after their last feeding of the day they tend to start preening. With full bellies, they go into a restful mode.
